Del Rad Room w/ Radview 50 Generator

Customer saying they are getting high S numbers and image is too light. We tested the rad room and found that the mR we are getting is much lower than the last time we did tests on this room for a PM. We used a keithly triad tester to measure the mR, kv and time. Using the Del generator service manual and a Fluke Scopemeter, we were able to calibrate the kv and mA of the generator. We couldn't calibrate the mas because the service manual procedure calls for the use of a dynalyzer, which we don't have anymore. During cal of mA, we got some very squirrley readings as the mA seemed to fluctuate with each shot. Finally, we were able to get it to give us consistent readings and back to our previous readings from our PM. Something tells me we haven't heard the last of this problem by the readings we were getting....

Philips Bucky Diagnost

Looked at a Philips BuckyDiagnost system today along with a co-worker. The reported problem was that they couldn't make a tabletop shot without pulling out the table bucky tray first. When they pushed in the bucky tray, the system ready light went out and they couldn't make a shot. Looked in tray and found a marker that was stuck in the tray. Figuring that was the problem, we removed the marker and tested, everything seemed to work. We left and thirty minutes later got a call that it wasn't working again. Went back and troubleshot and found intermittent system ready light when in the tabletop mode. Took stoppers off end of table and slid table top off enough to get to bucky. Heard clicking in relay on circuit board as system light would go on and off by itself. When we pushed the test button on front of the control handle, it said cassette still in table bucky, but it was not. We suspect either the optical sensor that detects a cassette is malfunctioning, or the circuit board (or relay on board) is bad. Stay tuned...

Fuji XG5000

I traveled to Athens today to address a problem they were having with Fuji XG5000 CR reader. They were reporting that slot #3 would not work and slot #2 was having problems returning the IP plate back into the cassette. When we arrived, we tested the unit and found all slots working as they should. After checking the error log, we found multiple errors pointing to the SZ2 sensor on the drive shaft at the bottom left section of the unit. We changed the sensor just as a precaution, even though the reader seemed to be working properly. We tested all the slots again and found them to be working properly. Then we checked the error log again and found no more errors.

GE AMX 110

Today I got to do some troublshooting on an AMX 110 portable x-ray machine. The problem was the tube wouldn't rotor up and the collimator light would not come on. We suspected a relay wasn't working correctly, but after many checks with a multimeter (using a DITEC training book and AMX 2 schematics), we finally were able to determine that a diode that was part of the rotor ok logic circuit was shorted. It was the C7 diode on section 3 of the portable. It's pretty easy to get to and change, so that was a good thing. After changing the diode, then it would rotor up but wouldn't make an exposure. We swapped the #4 pcb with a known good one on a hunch, and it worked.
